SUMMARY:Can Generative AI Generate Culture? A Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:The third Convergence AI Mixer: Can Generative AI Generate Culture?Join Mondai | House of AI at Erasmus for an exclusive chance to hear from experts in the field of Art\, Music\, Education\, AI\, and Culture. \nGenerative AI can create a wide variety of outputs\, including art\, music\, literature\, and other cultural artifacts. Whether these creations can truly be considered “culture” is a matter of debate. Some argue that AI-generated content lacks the human touch and context necessary to be considered part of a cultural tradition\, while others see it as a valuable addition to the ongoing evolution of culture. Ultimately\, the impact of generative AI on culture will depend on how it is used and integrated into the broader social and cultural context. \n(De voertaal van dit event is Engels) \nSpeakers:\nRenée van Holsteijn – AI Speaker & Moderator\nRoel Lutkenhaus – Founder of New Momentum\nCynthia Liem – Associate Professor at the Multimedia Computing Group at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering\, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS)\, TU Delft and the pianist of the Magma Duo.\nKsenia Fedorova – Assistant Professor at Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society\nSonia de Jager – Doctoral Researcher on Philosophy of AI\, Lecturer Willem de Kooning Academy \nRegister here!Programme:\n15:00 – 15:30 Welcome (Coffee & Tea)\n15:30 – 16:00 Introduction and presentation on the topic by Renée van Holsteijn\n16:00 – 17:00 Panel Discussion & Audience Interaction\n17:00 – 18:00 Networking drinks \nThis event is brought to you by Mondai | House of AI\, the Erasmus Centre of Data Analytics\, and Convergence AI\, Data & Digitalization. Where should we stand? When is AI worth engaging with? And how can enable ‘better AI’ strategies? \nWe will jump into the topic through the inspiring and concise keynotes from three TBA panelists\, and then dig deeper into this troubling space and the force fields at play through a panel discussion and Q&A with the audience moderated by dr. Maria Luce Lupetti. During this morning you’ll be encouraged to broaden your perspective on dilemmas and challenges for sustainable AI futures with new ethical\, technical and application insights. \nSpeakers: Prof.dr.ir. Andy van den Dobbelsteen\, Professor of Climate Design & Sustainability at TU Delft and Principal Investigator at AMS Institute (Amsterdam)\nAndy teaches architecture students sustainable design of cities\, buildings and techniques. He was ‘faculty advisor’ to TU Delft’s three successful Solar Decathlon teams (Prêt-à-Loger\, MOR and SUM) and is responsible for the free online course Zero-Energy Design\, winner of the edX Online Prize 2020 (best online course in the world). Together with his team\, Andy has led and implemented many national and international research projects on energy transition\, climate adaptation\, circularity and other sustainability themes. His mission is to devise and realise fully sustainable solutions that improve the liveability of the planet\, getting as many people as possible on board.
