ELLIS Symposium 2026
We are bringing together all colleagues across TU Delft who work on machine learning and AI – or are interested in starting to do so! Join the ELLIS Symposium 2026 on Thursday November 19th at the Aula to be inspired by AI and machine learning research and education at TU Delft, including the connections between fundamental AI research, engineering, and real-world applications.
This symposium is organised for the TU Delft AI and machine learning communities, and the Dutch ELLIS community. During this symposium, the focus is on the breadth of research within machine learning & AI related research at TU Delft and within ELLIS; new connections between people; and getting to know the ELLIS Delft Unit.
- Keynote by prof. Serge Belongie, president of European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS)
- Talks by TU Delft researchers and their research partners on fundamental AI and AI applications;
- MSc thesis pitches and award ceremony showcasing recent graduate research;
- Poster market for all TU Delft PhDs & postdocs working in, with, on machine learning and AI, including a NeurIPS highlight;
This symposium is an excellent opportunity to learn about new machine learning and AI research for faculty staff and early career researchers. The ELLIS Delft community is looking forward to meeting new and familiar colleagues here!
Submissions for poster contributions opens soon.

Get involved with ELLIS Unit Delft
The ELLIS Unit Delft welcomes faculty staff who are motivated and open to working with other members, specifically towards strengthen collaborations between IN and WITH AI researchers, centers, labs, and faculties. Further, we expect all faculty members to regularly participate in Unit activities and events.
Looking to get involved? TU Delft faculty staff can join the ELLIS Unit Delft via two routes:
- Become a member of the ELLIS Society
- Become an Associate Faculty Member
Ask about the routes at the symposium on November 19th or check out https://www.tudelft.nl/ellis-delft-unit/get-involved
About the ELLIS Unit Delft
We are an active contributor to the European network and, as one of the largest units, reflects the strength of machine learning research and innovation at TU Delft. The ELLIS Delft Unit was established as one of the first 17 ELLIS Units in 2020, and it has now grown into the fourth-largest unit in the network.
Machine Learning (ML) is a key research theme at TU Delft and the ELLIS Delft Unit has played an important role in connecting the involved researchers and coordinating this theme. In this way it aims to further strengthen the ML community at the university while advancing its mission of creating ‘a hub for machine learning for the real world’.
Join our growing community
- Join a community of researchers currently consisting of 40+ members from 4 faculties, who actively participate in the larger European ELLIS Network;
- Take advantage of opportunities for networking and exchange across faculties, as well as with the larger Dutch machine learning community;
Participate in the European ELLIS Network which organizes events, summer schools, and offers support such as mobility funds
About the ELLIS Network
The European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) is a pan-European AI network of excellence committed to advancing ethical and trustworthy AI. It aims to secure lasting international leadership of AI made in Europe by connecting top researchers in this field and by creating a multi-centric AI research laboratory. The ELLIS Network currently includes over 2.000 researchers across 43 sites.
